strandlab – research | innovation | collaboration
strandlab is a transdisciplinary research and innovation lab, a collaborative installation and a creative technology hub located in the Strand Arcade, Whangarei.
The month-long pilot pop-up started 6 May 2019. Talks, residencies, workshops, installations, and activations will carry through until the 29th of May. Residents include scientists, 3D Modelling and VR experts, international remote workers, digital artists, and coders.
Skill building workshops include projection mapping, green screen use, VJing, and Rongoā Māori. Students from a variety of institutions will be visiting for talks or to take their classes in the strandlab space.
The aim is for the project will continue in some form into the future and expand – strategies are in place to make this happen. strandlab is a collaboration between AwhiWorld, Northland Chamber of Commerce, Mahuta Digital, Propagarium Research Group, and #creativetechnorthland
