NorthChamber together with Westpac are proud to deliver the Westpac Smarts speaker series
The series offers Northland businesses the chance to hear from experts speaking across a range of industries, specialisations and thought leadership topics.
Our inaugural event kicks off with Industrial Economist Paul Clark of Westpac presenting the latest insights into the national and regional economic outlook, followed by Murray Reade CEO of the Northland Economic Development Agency, Northland Inc. outlining the region’s Economic Recovery Plan.
Due to the current Covid Level restrictions this will be an online event via Zoom, a link to the event will be sent out on receipt of your registration.
Pending a return to Level 1, future events will be held as a business breakfast to allow for in person Q & A with our speakers and face to face networking with attendees.

Paul Clark – Industrial Economist, Westpac
Paul Clark joined Westpac’s Economics team as an industry economist in July 2017 focusing on the structural analysis of industry and regional economic performance.
Prior to joining Westpac, he was a principal advisor at the New Zealand Transport Agency focusing on environmental analysis and non-financial performance measurement and monitoring.
Before emigrating to New Zealand in 2006, Paul had worked extensively in South Africa as an industry economist and as a country risk analyst specialising in developing countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
Murray Reade – Northland Inc. Chief Executive
Kawakawa-born Murray Reade is Northland Inc’s Chief Executive. Of Ngāpuhi/Ngāti Pāoa descent, Reade has spent much of his life in the Far North, with his hapū from Rawhiti in the Bay of Islands. Having held leadership roles at Eden Park, the Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum and the Lion Foundation, Reade is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and holds a Masters in Business Administration from England’s Henley Management College.
In his role at Northland Inc, Murray is able to combine his affinity for the Northland region with his passion for working closely with Northland communities to improve social and economic conditions for the area.
