While it has shapeshifted slightly over time from Top Shop to its current format\, the premise has remained\, it is always been about recognising and celebrating our phenomenal local businesses\, and our people doing an exceptional job! \nIt takes a community to make the Awards happen! And what an amazing community we have of business entrants\, sponsors\, partners coaches and judges\, all committed to building business excellence\, and the success of our region.  You don’t have to have been involved in the Awards before to join us at this event. \nWe will dish the secret sauce to success with a few of our winners sharing about their business\, there will be time for some Q and A\, and plenty of networking over shared nibbles and drinks. \nExpressions of interest will be open from April 2nd. There are 16 Awards categories ranging across industry and business size\, so something for everyone. If this is not your year to enter – join us anyway to support our businesses\, learn and connect.

Rising drug use and undesirable behaviour compounded by mental health and socio-economic factors are impacting Northland leaving many in our business communities feeling vulnerable and frustrated. Learn more about police priority areas and the commitment to having more police presence in our community \nThis is an opportunity to engage directly with the Minister and other business leaders to discuss the priority and focus of the Government. \n11:30am – 12:00 | Welcome and Session with Mark Mitchell and Dr Shane Reti\n12:00 – 12:30 | Catered Lunch\n12:30 – 1:00 | Q & A / discussion \nMore information to follow. \n\nAbout Mark Mitchell | Mark Mitchell is the Minister of Corrections\, Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery\, and Minister of Police. He is the MP for Whangaparaoa. In 1989\, Mark joined the New Zealand Police and was a member of the Dog Section and Armed Offender’s Squad.  After leaving the police\, Mark relocated overseas and launched an international business career\, including the start-up of his own security company. Mark entered Parliament in 2011 when he was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Rodney electorate. In 2016\, he was appointed as the Minister of Statistics\, Minister for Land Information\, and Associate Minister of Justice. In 2017\, he was promoted to Cabinet and appointed as the Minister of Defence. \n  \nAbout Dr Shane Reti | Dr Shane Reti is the Minister for Pacific Peoples\, Minister of Science\, Innovation and Technology\, Minister of Statistics and Minister for Universities. He is the MP for Whangarei. Dr Reti’s career began in family medicine and dermatology in Whangarei where he practiced for 16 years. He served three terms on the Board of the Northland DHB. He was awarded a QSM for Public Service in the 2006 New Year Honours List. In 2007 Dr Reti was named the NZ Harkness Fellow to Harvard\, where he was promoted to Assistant Professor. In 2014 Dr Reti became the first Māori MP to win the Whangarei seat which he held from 2014 to 2020 and won again in 2023.
