Waitangi Treaty Grounds is Aotearoa New Zealand’s most important historic site and tells our nation’s history of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Treaty of Waitangi. Waitangi weaves together the strands and stories of many peoples, events and places to reveal the rich cultural history of our nation, offering an inspiring and meaningful experience for visitors.
Icons include Te Kōngahu Museum of Waitangi, Te Rau Aroha Museum of the Price of Citizenship, Te Whare Rūnanga, the Treaty House, Tahuraroa Function Centre, a carving studio and the ceremonial waka Ngātokimatawhaorua. Visitors enjoy a full programme of tours and cultural performances.
