Hundertwasser Wairau Maori Arts Centre
The Chamber Board continues to support the Hundertwasser project for the following reasons
- Economic growth of Northland through
- Construction of the centre
- Providing employment in tourism, hospitality
- Hotel developments which are linked to the Hundertwasser project going ahead
- Increase in value of existing public assets which will in turn increase rate income for the district
- Will encourage travellers local and international to stay in Whangarei before heading north
- An iconic building that will put Whangarei on the map both nationally and internationally
- Of the two projects chosen by WDC to take to referendum the Hundertwasser Wairau Maori Arts Centre has a more resolved and clearer funding stream of the two proposals
