Simon and Sue Mehrtens established Absolute Stainless in 2001 after Simon noticed a gap in the local market place for top quality stainless steel products. It is primarily a fabrication and jobbing workshop.
In the beginning business was initially focused in the marine industry, although it rapidly grew and diversified to provide stainless and aluminium products and jobs in the industrial, residential and commercial and marine industries.
The list of products they make is endless: anything from bench tops, custom made rangehoods and extractor units, shower trays, hand rails, balustrades, level entry drains and custom made chimney caps and flashings.
Their work can be seen in many public places in Whangarei, with handrails, level entry drains, bike racks, the water fountains with dog bowls in the Hatea Loop walkway and many range hoods and stainless bench tops in restaurants and cafes around town.
Absolute Stainless are known throughout Northland for the high-standard of their products and the experience and skill of their tradesmen and emerging apprentices. The direct result of this, being repeat customers. The many strong relationships they have built with local businesses and individuals are testament to their consistently high-quality products and good service.
They have very recently moved to 12 Logyard Road, Port Nikau. The move will allow room to grow and provide space to focus on the new CNC tube roller they have recently purchased. It is one of the few in the country that other businesses and the public can have access to and they are very excited of the opportunities it will bring.
