Sherwood Park Golf Club originated in the fifties, originally in Onerahi, and has been at its current site in Maunu since 1969. It boasts an eighteen hole championship standard course set in mature park land, which is a delight for playing the “Game for Life”. It is the only course in the Whangarei district with fairway watering, and is therefore playable in all but the most extreme weather conditions. The club has proud history of hosting many important golfing events in Northland, as well as corporate Golf Days and fund-raising activities in support of the Whangarei community.
The two storey clubhouse commands impressive views across some of the course, and is capable of hosting 100 people for a formal function. A fully stocked bar offers non-alcoholic beverages and a selection of snacks, and restaurant catering is available, both staffed by the club’s own contractors. The caterer provides sandwiches, cakes, savouries and a variety of fresh food on club days, and when organized events take place. In addition, dinner is available on club nights or as required, as well as during daylight saving on Thursday evenings after Twilight Golf. The club’s dress code is reasonably relaxed, expecting both members and visitors to have a neat and tidy appearance. However, our dress code does not accept singlets, beach shorts and jandals, either on the course or in the clubhouse. Heating in the lounge for colder days and evenings is provided by a log burner. There are adequate toilet facilities on both floors.
With these facilities, the clubhouse makes an ideal location to hold Chamber “Business after Five” events in a quiet, attractive and different setting.
